That's a wrap on the 2025/26 season.
I'll try to keep this brief. I know I lose most of you after the first chapter, so feel free to just enjoy the photos from Saturday.
It wasn't the easiest season by any stretch, and the tables definitely aren't ones for the scrapbook, but every team stuck at it, kept turning up and somehow got more games on than we didn't. So congratulations, we made it.
Looking back at the last few months, it's been a very character-building season. We've had the highs of some dominant home wins and some tough away days where the result didn't quite go our way, but the spirit definitely did.
One thing that's stood out this year is how people have stepped up. Whether it was the Men's 2s bolting together a team during half-term, evening games in biblical weather, or the Ladies' 2s under the new captaincy of Claire Lawrence bringing through a wave of junior talent that didn't just fill a gap but actually started running the show. A special shout-out to Charlotte for her hat-trick and Sydney for a fantastic debut.
We've had some great individual stories too. We watched Ade Young transform from a defender into a clinical poacher with five from five, although we'll gloss over which goal some of those went into. If that bit's wrong, I'm sure I'll be corrected.
We've also seen the Badgers rebuild after losing so many players to the senior teams, giving others like Jake, Callen, Chloe and Kacey, to name just a few, the opportunity to step up and shine.
Our junior section has been a real highlight. It's seen a lot of change this year, but thanks to the coaches and more parents stepping up and helping, we've grown our numbers and increased awareness of the club.
Off the pitch, it's been just as busy. From Bavarian nights to Christmas carols, junior pizza nights and the recent Parents vs Children match, the clubhouse has been at the heart of it all, and it's something we need to support wherever we can.
Finally, to the captains who've spent their evenings chasing players, the umpires who have done back-to-back games, and our coaches, volunteers and committee members working behind the scenes: thank you. This club doesn't run on magic; it runs on you lot.
So enjoy the break and put the sticks away for a few weeks, but please keep an eye out for details of our summer plans and the upcoming awards night.
