Wayne Beard
“I started playing Hockey for Redditch as a youngster in 1983. In the following year, I played in the Under-15s team that reached the national finals. I went for England trials in 1986 and represented the midlands at both junior and senior level. In 1993, I moved from Redditch to Olton & West Warwick to play in the national league. Whilst at Olton, I started coaching and when I returned to Redditch in 2007, I had just achieved my level 3 coaching badge. Since returning to Redditch I have managed all teams throughout the club, achieving promotion as champions with the Mens 1st XI in 2009/10. I’ve also acted as head coach of the JRPC Under-16s girls and boys. Currently I’m club head coach and captain of the Mens 3rd XI with a strong focus on youth development. I am also representing the Midlands Over 45s and back involved with the Player pathway as assistant coach to the JRPC Under-15s Boys and Under-17s Girls.”
Becki Clarke
I started playing hockey at 12, playing mostly at school before later joining Redditch Hockey Club. I was a member of the successful U19 Redditch girl’s team who were crowned county club champions, I represented Worcestershire U21’s, had Midland trials and played for many years in the Midland and North Hockey leagues. In 2004, I gained my Level1 coaching badge and started coaching junior hockey in the local area. I returned to Redditch Hockey Club in 2011 and have been a junior coach for the last 3 years. I currently look after the beginners, teaching the fundamentals in a fun and engaging way, with lots of little games. For me there is nothing more rewarding than helping children progress and develop new skills. Additional courses – BSc. Hons Sport & Exercise Science, Good Practice and Child Protection, Equity in Coaching and Coaching Disabled People in Sport.”
